Boclair Care Home is a private purpose-built care home situated in the residential community of Bearsden, on the edge of Glasgow. Our home offers luxury accommodation in beautiful en suite bedrooms for up to 80 residents along with an outstanding range of health care and wellbeing support covering Residential Care, Dementia Care, Nursing Care and Respite care.

We employ the “Key Nursing” approach when it comes to nursing care, which means each resident is allocated a registered nurse who gets to know them on a personal level and is in charge of their care. Residents and their relatives will always know who to contact for assistance and feel comfortable seeing a familiar face each time they visit.

Bearsden

Bearsden is situated on the northwest outskirts of Glasgow, approximately six miles north-west of the city centre. Boclair Care Home is perfectly placed to make the most of what Glasgow has to offer. Those at Boclair Care Home will never be short of beautiful countryside walks in and around Bearsden, and we are fortunate to have beautiful country parks within easy reach, such as Mugdock Country Park, a popular spot for walking trails that offer pleasant views of the castle, woodlands and lake within the park. Kilmardinny Loch is also a popular location for getting some daily exercise, such as a short walk, or sitting quietly and watching the wildlife go by. The Loch is the site of several sculptures of The Gruffalo, placed in honour of author Julia Donaldson who lived in Bearsden for a number of years. Wildlife admirers can also visit Strathblane Falconry for a hands-on flying experience or to simply watch the demonstration of the magnificent birds of prey. Bearsden has plenty to offer, from stunning rural walks and tourist attractions to River Clyde which is just half an hour’s drive away.

Glasgow

The Theatre Royal, Glasgow’s oldest theatre, has been at the heart of the city’s rich cultural life for almost 150 years and is home to the prestigious Scottish Opera and Scottish Ballet. The Theatre Royal also hosts a variety of comedy, dance, drama and musical theatre all year round. The centrepiece of the city centre square is a neo-classical building which is where you will find the Gallery of Modern Art. This gallery is the most visited modern art gallery in Scotland and offers a series of national and international exhibitions. For those looking for a slower-paced adventure, the city centre also offers some of the best shopping experiences outside of London and also presents a wonderful array of restaurants and cafes at Buchanan Galleries. The Glasgow City Centre is easily accessible in just 25 minutes by car; we also have great public transport links nearby, including rail and bus services.

Edinburgh

Accessible via car in approximately one hour from Boclair Care Home, this fast-paced city has so much to offer people; whatever their interest, Edinburgh offers something for everyone. Edinburgh Zoo is home to over 1,000 rare animals from around the world and home to the UK’s only giant pandas and koalas and is ideal for all ages. For residents and their friends and family, a trip to Edinburgh Castle is a must. The most famous of Scottish castles houses the Honours (Crown Jewels) of Scotland, the Stone of Destiny, the famous 15th-century gun Mons Meg, the One o’Clock Gun, and the National War Museum of Scotland. This entirely accessible location is available to everyone, no matter age or physical ability. For those who enjoy the great outdoors and slow-paced walks, we recommend The Water of Leith; a peaceful, scenic walk that offers a tranquil riverside setting where wildlife is revealed by sight and sound. One of our particularly favourite locations is the Royal Botanic Gardens; a pleasure for all the family, the Garden offers fantastic views of the capital’s skyline.
