Musical Month Keeps Everyone’s Spirits High

It may be dark and chilly outside but inside we've been enjoying all sorts of colourful entertainment. Our residents have been enjoying a variety of musical treats over the past month that have raised our spirits us a chance to get out and about, as well as enjoy a traditional festive experience at home.

One of the real highlights was a trip to the King's Theatre in Glasgow to see the fabulous production of 101 Dalmatians, featuring none other than Claire Richards from Steps. Thanks to some very kind-hearted ticket donations, a group of residents was able to enjoy a night out at the theatre – an experience that brought so much excitement. The trip brought back fond memories for many, as live theatre was such a big part of their lives. Stepping through the grand doors of the King's Theatre, you could see the smiles and hear the chatter about the show they were about to see. The production itself didn’t disappoint, with its stunning costumes, brilliant performances, and of course, a few laughs along the way. It was a magical evening, and there was plenty of happy reminiscing over tea and biscuits when they returned home.

The festive fun continued back at Boclair with a visit from Geez A Break Productions, who performed a Christmas pantomime just for us. It was brilliant to see the room come alive with laughter, singing, and all the classic “Oh no, he didn’t!” moments that make a panto so special. Pantomimes are such a beloved Christmas tradition, and they hold so many happy memories for people of all ages – our residents are no exception. The performers did a fantastic job of bringing a bit of festive sparkle to our home, and it was lovely to see so many smiles (and a few tears of laughter!) throughout the afternoon.

To round off our musical month, we had a visit from Ya Dancer Silent Disco, and what a treat that was! A silent disco is a unique way of enjoying music where everyone wears headphones, listening to their favourite tunes at their own volume. Rather than music playing through speakers, each person hears it directly in their headphones, and does their very own individual groovy dance moves! The team brought a brilliant playlist of classics and sing-along favourites, and it wasn’t long before the room was full of dancing, clapping, and laughter. It was such a pleasure to watch residents letting loose and enjoying the music, with many saying it felt like a proper wee party.

At Boclair Care Home, we know how important it is for our residents to stay connected to the things they’ve always loved, whether it’s a trip out to the local theatre, a bit of Christmas fun, or simply enjoying music with friends. This month has been a wonderful reminder of how these moments can bring so much joy, and we’re proud to create opportunities for our residents to keep making special memories.
It’s been a truly fantastic month here at Boclair, and with Christmas just around the corner, there’s plenty more to look forward to. We’re planning to keep the music playing right up until Hogmanay!

If you're interested in learning more about the wide variety of activities our residents enjoy year round please do get in touch, our brilliant team would be very happy to show you around our home an answer any questions you might have.
