Team Boclair at The Sporting Senior Games
The Sporting Senior Games 2024, hosted by Glasgow Caledonian and supported by the Erskine Veterans Charity was a great success again this year. Boclair Care Home joined many other teams from across Scotland to vie for silverware success. There were a raft of medals, plus the coveted John Bowman Trophy at stake, and our team of 6 Boclair residents were keen to show off their skills.
The competition hotted up throughout the day as the teams of older adults took part in several sports, including Basketball, 10 Pin Bowling, Curling, and Javelin. Boclair teams were joined by residents from care homes across East Ayrshire, West Lothian, Ayr, Coatbridge, and Bishopton.
The team from Boclair Care Home in Bearsden participated in three events, reaching the knockout stages and bringing home the gold in the Curling and Boules events.
A great day out was had by all, and staff and residents alike enjoyed the atmosphere of friendly competition which continued into the Awards Ceremony which took place on the 11th September. The Boclair Care Home team were extremely proud to receive their medals and plan to hang them where all their friends can see them!
Activities at Boclair Care Home
Our teams at Boclair Care Home work tirelessly to provide residents with a plethora of activities to allow them to fill their days however they choose, from joining the gardening Group to participating in fundraising events. Our complete activities programme works hand in hand with our individualised care plans and is tailored to those who live a quiet or more active lifestyle.
Our Activities Coordinator and their team come up with regular activities for residents to enjoy that are both full of fun and have positive benefits to their health and wellbeing which overall is always our top priority. Our complete activities programme can include anything from games afternoons, dance and singing classes, gardening, or enjoying the local community and all that it has to offer.
