What is Dementia Care?

Dementia affects a person’s speech and memory, and dementia care is a specialised form of support designed to meet the needs of individuals living with dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease and other memory-related conditions. This care involves more than just managing physical health—it also focuses on supporting cognitive abilities, emotional well-being, and creating an environment that feels safe and familiar.

At Boclair Care Home, our approach to specialist dementia care in Glasgow is grounded in understanding and empathy. We work closely with residents and their families to ensure every aspect of their care is tailored to their personal preferences, routines, and history. This includes thoughtful activities to engage memory and cognitive skills, as well as strategies to reduce anxiety and enhance comfort.

At our luxury dementia care home, you can meet new people, pursue interests and hobbies, and make friends and memories.

Dementia Care FAQs

Before residents move into Boclair Care Home, we arrange a consultation with our Home Manager, the prospective residents, and their loved ones to ensure we can address their individual needs. We work closely with them to comprehend their routines, interests, and preferences, which we then incorporate into their personalised care plans. Our approach to care is centered around the individual, and our objective is to assist residents in preserving their independence and dignity while reassuring them that we are always here to provide support whenever they need it.

We are committed to investing in the training and development of our staff, especially our dementia care team, who receive training as required to ensure they stay updated with the latest advancements in dementia care and support. Our teams possess the experience and expertise needed to provide effective care to our residents with dementia, which includes offering support with activities, therapies, communication, mobility, medication management, and personal care.

At Boclair Care Home, we offer a diverse activities programme for all residents, which includes both group and one-on-one activities and therapies. For instance, we frequently host arts and crafts sessions and provide music therapy, reminiscence activities, and more. The activities and therapies we select are designed to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our residents, including those living with dementia.

At Boclair Care Home, we require a 28-day notice period for residents receiving any of our long-term care types and are looking to move out. Our compassionate team are on hand around the clock to support you with your moving transition and answer any further questions you have.
