The Loch is the site of several sculptures of The Gruffalo, placed in honour of author Julia Donaldson who lived in Bearsden for a number of years. Bearsdens hugely popular Snowsport Club is less than 10 minutes from Boclair Care Home and provides one of the most advanced dry slope facilities in Britain incorporating the Main alpine slope, two nursery slopes and the UK’s premier freeride slope for boarders and freeriders. The centrepiece of the city centre square is a neo-classical building which is home to the Gallery of Modern Art. This gallery is the most visited modern art gallery in Scotland, and offers a series of national and international exhibitions. Nestled away in the middle of Glasgow, Hogganfield Loch is a small tranquil oasis that offers a calm and relaxing escape from the bustling city. Hogganfield Loch is a shallow loch surrounded by park land and holding a small wooded island off its eastern bank. Easily traversed by wheelchairs and is flat throughout, makes it an ideal place for those with impaired mobility to visit. One of our particularly favourite locations is the Royal Botanic Gardens. These stunning Gardens offer fantastic views of the capital’s skyline and 72 acres of stunning scenery. For those who enjoy nature and slow-paced walks, we recommend The Water of Leith; a peaceful, scenic walk that offers a tranquil riverside setting. With the North Edinburgh Arts Centre, Stockbridge Market, antique stores and bookshops, and an abundance of cafes there is always a delightful day trip ready to excite all the senses. Edinburgh is also home to some of the best festivals around: Edinburgh International Film Festival, Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Edinburgh International Book Festival and Edinburgh’s Hogmanay.
